What We’re Asking For
Listening is only the beginning. What happens after people are heard matters just as much.
Listen Before You Dismiss is calling for an independent review of rural patient-care standards and
clinical training.
The review should include lived experience alongside healthcare professionals and examine how rural services approach:
• respectful communication and trauma-aware care
• whole-person assessment of physical and mental health needs
• clinical handover and continuity of care
• safer discharge planning
• patient and family escalation pathways
• complaint handling and organisational learning
• staff education and clinical training
• accountability for implementing change
We are not asking for another report that disappears onto a shelf.
Recommendations should be public. Responsibility should be clear. Timeframes should be set.
Communities should be able to see what actually changes.
