What’s Happened So Far
Campaign update — 17 October 2026
Listen Before You Dismiss began with one patient's experience and has grown into a wider call for safer, more compassionate and accountable rural healthcare.
The petition
Our petition continues to grow
Our latest Change.org dashboard snapshot shows 815 supporters backing Ignored, Judged, and Discharged: Community Concerns About Rural Patient Care.
That's 38 more supporters than our previous verified checkpoint of 777 on 27 September 2026 — and just 185 signatures away from our next milestone of 1,000.
The petition calls for an independent review of rural patient-care standards and clinical training, with lived experience included and meaningful accountability for improvement.
Every signature helps demonstrate public support for safer, more compassionate rural healthcare.
Supporter figures reflect our latest recorded dashboard snapshot and may have changed since.
Seeking evidence and accountability
The campaign is asking how health-service commitments, policies and improvement processes translate into the experiences of patients and families.
A formal Freedom of Information request for existing, non-personal patient-experience and health-service performance records was acknowledged on 6 October 2026. That process remains ongoing. We will not claim to know what the records establish before they are received and assessed.
On 12 October, we published What Does “Measured” Actually Mean?, highlighting the difference between having a concern recorded and genuinely feeling heard.
What we're asking for
An independent review of rural patient-care standards and clinical training, informed by lived experience, with clearly identified responsibility, realistic timeframes and transparent reporting on progress.
Meetings, responses and commitments matter. But lasting improvement needs evidence of what changed in practice.
Help make every voice count.
